Want to eat like a local? You’ve probably heard of “empanadas” but have you tried “lechona” and did you know that “bocadillo” in Colombia is not a sandwich?
Join us on a tasty walk through the cool residential area of Laureles where we try a variety of typical Colombian food & drinks at our favorite local places and provide some insight into the cultural context and traditions around each specialty.
In this tour we will guide you through the neighborhood of Laureles, an upper middle class neighborhood which is becoming increasingly popular and trendy. We will stop at some of our favorite local places to taste around 10 different Colombian snacks, dishes & drinks, including (the best!) empanada, buñuelo, lechona, mango biche, coffee, bocadillo and salpicón.
At each place, we will explain the tradition and cultural context behind each specialty. We will also visit a local coffee roastery and learn about roasting process, as well as the economic reality of the coffee industry in Colombia. Along the way, we will make sure to point out some cool spots you can check out after the tour and provide you with some interesting facts about the neighborhood.
